    • The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide.


  • Description

    • The competition is organized by the Natural History Museum in London.

    • Wildlife Photographer of the Year calls on photographers worldwide to put nature in the frame. Whether you're young, old, professional or amateur, we'd like to see work that raises awareness of the beauty and fragility of the natural world.


  • There are two competitions:

    • Adult Competition open to photographers aged 18 and over;

    • Young Competition open to photographers aged 17 and under.


Animals in their Environment || Animal Portraits || Behaviour: Amphibians and Reptiles || Behaviour: Birds || Behaviour: Invertebrates || Behaviour: Mammals || Oceans - The Bigger Picture || Plants and Fungi || Natural Artistry || Underwater || Urban Wildlife || Wetlands - The Bigger Picture || Photojournalism || Photojournalist Story Award || Rising Star Portfolio Award (ages 18 to 26) || Portfolio Award (ages 27 and over).


  • Young competition

    • Images can cover any aspect of wildlife and the natural world, whether wild plants or animals or their natural environments, or illustrate our interaction with nature, good or bad.


  • Entry fees

    • The Adult Competition: £30 / £35

    • The Young Competition: entry is free


  • Prizes

    • For photographers aged 18 or over

Wildlife Photographer of the Year £10,000, trophy and personalised certificate


Portfolio Award £2,500 and personalised certificate trip to London to attend the awards ceremony


Photojournalist Story Award £2,500 and personalised certificate trip to London to attend the awards ceremony


Rising Star Portfolio Award £1,500 and personalised certificate trip to London to attend the awards ceremony


Adult category winners £1,250 and personalised certificate trip to London to attend the awards ceremony


  • For photographers aged 17 and under

Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year £1,000, trophy and personalised certificate


You can submit one photograph per category, except the portfolio category, where you must upload 5-10 photographs. You can submit photos through the official HIPA website. We have also attached the link for the competitions. ALL THE BEST & BEST OF LUCK!!
